Trained Fish - Too Smart for His Own Good?

So is it possible for a trained fish to be too smart for its own good? Perhaps, at least according to this whimsical Pepsi commercial. Although I note with satisfaction that in the end, the trained goldfish has the last laugh.

We haven't trained any of our goldfish to float belly up yet, but come to think of it, Comet does look kind of dead for a moment when he's squeezing under the R2 Fish School Kit limbo bar on his side, as you can see from this picture.

I did successfully teach one of our trained albino oscars (Snow) to leap out of the water for food. But I had to quit training him on that trick after he got overzealous one day and leaped out of the tank when I had the lid open getting ready to train him! He flopped around for a couple seconds on the floor until I was able to scoop him up and put him back in the tank. It was a pretty big scare for both of us, and we didn't do that trick again!
