Fish School Webcam - Behind the Scenes

John Campbell from Seattle emailed us to ask a very good question. He wrote:

The technology behind the Fish School webcam is a Philips USB camera on a tripod beside Comet's 10 gallon tank. The camera is connected to a Dell Latitude laptop, located in the cabinet under the tank (see photos).

The laptop connects wirelessly to the internet. It streams images to our webcam website, hosted by ww.com. It is a really nice webcam hosting service - easy to set up, virtually 100% uptime, and best of all, its free!

The webcam is live 24/7, but the light is only on from 6am to 10:30pm Eastern Time. Comet usually puts on two shows a day, at around 6:30am and 9:00pm. The clock behind the tank shows the current time, and next show time.

Be sure to check it out, and email us to tell us when you'll be watching!
